hey! i was in la for four days. it's definitely a nice place to visit (mild, consistent weather-- unlike new england!) but there were two general impressions i had. first, everywhere i went seemed really far away. we drove everywhere, traffic was bad, there were no pedestrians on the street, really. second, it seemed like there were an awful lot of strip malls. if you go there, try to go to the beach (i went to venice) and the getty center. also-definitely rent a car if you're not visiting someone who lives there already. i would definitely go there again, but just to visit people, not on my own.
