I started this blog a year ago to work toward launching my Abblesauce website, and in reality my Abblesauce business. I've been using this blog to post random design that I like (majority being fashion design). I also use it to showcase my doodles and illustrations. As I'm nearing the launch of the official abblesauce.com, I think I'll use this blog for some more graphic/advertising related posts that will help me out with skills for my "real" job.
For example, I've been reading Crap Detector , a great graphic design/advertising blog by Kate Bingaman. She's an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Mississippi State University, and she uses her blog to post assignments and interact with her design students. So, I figured I'd hop on board and learn some new things and do these projects as if I was in her class! I didn't go to school for graphic design, and have taken one Type class. So, the rest (which isn't a whole lot) has been self-taught through working for 2 ad agencies. I know that I need to be taking classes and doing tutorials daily, so I'm going to try and keep up with some of her class assignments. The illustrating will work for Abblesauce, but not for my "real" job.
What I plan to do, is kind of like what Roxy Marj does. If she gets the time, she posts her homework from Parsons on her blog.
