I've been watching youtube videos tonight on how to do rockabilly hair dos. I want to experiment with my short new hair. I love "how to" tutorials on youtube...they're really entertaining. The girl in the below video is super cute and now I know how to properly pull off the rosie the riveter look!

Now that my hair has been cut very short, I'm looking for cute hairbands and clips to style my hair with. Below are a couple of ban.do bows and head pieces that I love. The first one listed would be perfect for a fancy affair like a wedding. I would wear the red sequins heart and the bow any day of the week.

B.W was going to surprise me with the below janine basil hairpiece but he wasn't sure I'd like it. I got on to etsy to check out the headpiece myself and I found a bunch of other great pieces in the janine basil shop.

I got a shorter haircut a few days ago. I gave my hair stylist the below shannon sossamon picture (plus 14 or so other various pictures) for her to work from. I ended up with a version of sossamon's cut. Having a much shorter haircut has made me think about purchasing fun things to put in my hair and wearing different styles of clothing, but more on that later. Below are some other great hairstyles that I dug up while searching for hair do's.

Being at the beach got me thinking about bathing suit season in a new light. I have been wearing a red polka dot bikini from target the past two years. I tend to cover it up with a cute sundress because I don't love the cut of the bathing suit. This year I was thinking that it might be fun to find a bathing suit that has some more style and class and makes a statement all on its own. All below are from modcloth.

I have the white patent Marc by M.J mouse flats from a few years back, but they're getting a little worn out. I immediately loved the updated patent mouse flats that came out last year (posted above), and thought those would definitely be my upgrade flats. However, I keep seeing the striped "Miss Marc" flats with the frowning doll on the toe and I think they'll have to be my next splurge pair of flats. She's just too cute!

A friend at work told me about the ethical shoes made by Osborn Designs. The shoes are made by a small (only 2 people or so!) group of artisans in Guatemala City. Their cute patterned oxfords were just featured in Time Out NY. I've been on the look out for a pair of black or grey ones for fall--but it's very tempting to purchase a floral pair instead and support a good cause.

I went to see the Australian band The Grates play last night at pianos
for one of their first residency shows. And I went to support my
friend who's playing with them on their US tour. You should check them
out if you get a chance; they are a really fun bubble gum pop kind of
a band! I of couse always enjoy checking out what the two ladies
(patience & alana) in the band are wearing.

I hope everyone had a relaxing 4th of July weekend. I went down to the jersey shore this weekend for a family vacation/reunion. I love the jersey shore for many reasons; surf shops, sailing, the beach of course, ice cream outings, water ice, wawa, 7-11...you get the idea. I also love kitsch and tack!!!

so i just got home from our trip to tokyo...and i already miss it!

it was such an amazing trip and is really difficult to pin point my favorite parts---however one of the most exciting things was going to harajuku. below is nerdy old me with one of the goth harajuku girls!!!!! i met a couple of them and gave them some abblesauce tee shirts. they seemed to love and appreciate them.

i haven't been posting many pics on wardrobe_remix as of late because i've been lacking inspiration. but things are changing...there are so many inspiring people to be found on wardrobe_remix. In particular, I find her outfits so inspiring. i love mbibelot's mix of quirk and luxury fashion (marc jacobs and chanel mostly). also, i find her outfit choices inspiring b/c like me, she works in an office with older people but she doesn't let that inhibit her daring outfit choices...whereas i do most days! she knows how to dress her body, yet still manages to work in trends and quirky pieces.

in other news, we are still working on our initial projects in my sewing class. it's taking us so long to finish, but in a way i'm happy about that. it means i get to make sure every bit of my skirt is made with the help of the teacher...who by the way is a veteran seamstress.

March is one of my favorite months of the year. And now, since I have abblesauce it's even better in March because it marks my annual celebration of my site launch. I met with my accountant and am gearing up with new designs...and even learning to sew! All these things make me realize how much has changed in one year. Anyway, I posted a fav pic of mine...my friend had a mustache party and we were pretty much the only girls who came prepared with our own amazing set of staches.

Taking a peek into the wrong side of the outer bag.

The straps will be sewn in between the outer shell and the pink lining.

This is the bag turned inside out. The pink is the lining.This is the final bag that mizutamago sewed. Check out the link for the pattern.
This is what my outer bag looks like, now I just need to sew the straps and the lining into it.

I was inspired to pick the grey fabric and go for the shorter A-line cut skirt, b/c of this look from lover. I'll make some headway on this skirt next week, when class is back in session.

Abblesauce featured in F.I.T Style Shop

Hi Guys,

Tomorrow Abblesauce t-shirts will be sold in the F.I.T (NYC's Fashion Institute of Technology) Style Shop. My lovely friend Francesca helped me to arrange this...Thanks Francesca!!! The Style Shop is student run, so if you're in the fashion district, swing on by and support the independent designers that they feature.
I'll have more exciting news at the end of the week...we're working on showing Abblesauce in some local fashion shows!

Well, this time last year I was filling out all the official paperwork to become Abblesauce LLC. Abblesauce has been in business one year so far, and I have to say that I'm definitely learning some things and loving it. I'm working on some Abblesauce events for this spring and summer and will be putting up images from my first project in sewing class.....more details to come soon!

For now, back to scouring nylonmag.com and style.com for some fashion week pics!
